“Calm Your Gut” Beautifying Acai Bowl

Our friend Madeline Roberts made this beautiful Probiotic infused Acai bowl to share with you!

You know those foods that you just keep turning back to because they not only taste good, but they leave you feeling good too? That is what acai bowls are for me. On a recent trip to San Diego, I ordered an acai bowl so beautiful that random strangers were asking me where I got it. One man turned to me and said “Acai bowls are amazing. I would feel the energy from a bowl like that for the rest of the day.” I couldn't agree more. They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but a heavy plate of pancakes or cereal tends to bring my energy levels into a nosedive. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes pancakes are just worth it. But most days, eating sugary cereal and fried batter foods is not the kindest thing we could do for our health and well-being. My best breakfast advice is to set yourself up for success with a nutrient-dense bowl of plant-based goodness.

The reason I call this a "beautifying" acai bowl is because I pack mine with a couple different nutrients specifically targeting my skin, like Just Thrive probiotic, and collagen powder. However, many of the ingredients included are already so good for your skin before adding in powders and supplements.

Having a Just Thrive probiotic in your acai bowl is such a powerful way to take it to the next level. First, it aids in digestion by producing enzymes in your gut which help your body break down food. This alone can improve your skin health and appearance because your body is able to absorb more nutrients! The Bacillus endospore strains in Just Thrive probiotic have the ability to support your entire digestive tract and even further support your immune health and the body’s ability to detox. Detoxification is an important key in healing inflammatory skin issues like acne and psoriasis. The really cool thing is that most probiotics would die if you opened them up and mixed them with food but Just Thrive is so hardy and robust that you can open the capsules and mix the contents right into the bowl without sacrificing the quality of the probiotic (you can even bake with them!). If you aren’t putting this probiotic in your smoothie bowls then you are missing out!

Now, I'm pretty picky when it comes to consistency and flavor, so it took some trial and error to get the right amounts of each ingredient. This recipe is my final edit, and a great base for all kinds of acai bowls! In the end, it's really up to you what you do or don't want as a topping. That is what makes acai bowls so fun. Oh the possibilities!
