This is amazing when used in conjunction with Just Thrive's probiotic and prebiotic. I've been struggling with IBS, leaky gut and SIBO for a long, long time. I finally found some functional doctors that put me on a low FODMAP diet using Monash University's mobile app. They also gave me several antibiotics but to completely knock out the SIBO, the probiotics, prebiotics and IgG were necessary. I tried so many things for so long, it was hard to tell what was working and what wasn't. In the middle of this treatment, my primary care physician had found very high eosinophyl's in my blood work and she wanted me to retest for it in a few weeks to see if it was due to an allergy or an anomaly. I suspected the IgG was causing this so she told me to go off of it during this time and retest in 2 to 3 weeks. About 1 1/2 weeks later my condition went down hill fast, I was experiencing a lot of pain. I begged my doctor to let me retest right away and go back on the IgG. I also realized that I had not been taking enough of it before. I had been taking 1 pill a day when I should have been taking 4 a day. The second lab test came back with normal eosinophils but I started taking 4 IgG pills a day and shortly thereafter everything got better. Then I didn't need the IgG at all and and I've reduced my probiotic to one every other day and hope to be titrating down. If I suddenly have a bad episode from eating something, I find I can start taking the probiotic and 4 IgG's daily and in a couple of days everything is back to normal. I don't know how I would have gotten over this without Just Thrive's products.
My functional doctors also had me taking 2 berbereine pills and 4 uva ursi pills daily in a split dose morning and night. I took that for about 2 months or more. I also drink marshmallow root tea 2 to 3 times a day and I've been drinking that for nearly 3 months now and will continue to do so. I put a little Stevia in it but get the drops from Trader Joe's. I had been using some I got at Safeway but it turns out that has more Erythritol in it than Stevia and I can't digest Erythritol. It's necessary to keep taking the Uva Ursi, Berberiene and especially the marshmallow root tea even after feeling better because it takes a long time to heal the gut. Also, to stave off candida I have to either take a probiotic for women or consume 2 to 3 servings of probiotic foods a day, i.e. yogurt (dairy free for me), sauerkraut, kombucha, etc. I also was told to take Pure Therapro Leaky Gut Defense and to keep taking this long after I felt better. It's main ingredient is a high dose of L-Glutamine (3 g), also deglycyrrihizinated licorice is powerful and aloe vera doesn't hurt.
I take some vitamins too like a time released Vitamin C, Vitamin D in drops (below the tongue), Amy Myers Multi Vitamin and a little zinc. Turmeric with black pepper in a capsule is helpful, it's not enough to cook with it a lot. A woman who seemed quite knowledgeable in health food store recommended Gaia Herbs Turmeric Supreme.
I started with just taking the antibiotics, then did the rest of it ALL AT THE SAME TIME. That's important. It's a very slow process. Little by little, daily I got better. It is very expensive and it's ridiculous that health insurance does not cover this. The functional medicine doctors I see are at UCSF, one of the best hospitals in the country so hopefully they are doing something right. Monash University wrote the book on FODMAPs. This has been studied and proven effective for people with IBS. They say this diet solves the problem for about 75% of people with IBS. If this diet does not work for people, they typically have something else going on, something more severe. I think the app cost like $9.00, it was probably the bet $9.00 I ever spent. I'm putting this out here because so many people have these conditions and so few people seem to know how to solve it. It's so tricky. I wish someone would have clued me in to this. I hope it's helpful.
Getting through SIBO takes a lot of time, and IgG really helped alleviate the pain for me. It took me a while to find a doctor who could help me with it (I recommend Parsley Health). And even then it takes roughly a month to identify SIBO. I had to stop the probiotic supplements I was taking for 2 weeks before taking the test. And then it took another week for the lab to process the results. During the suffering, I heard from Lucy Mailing, a gut researcher, that research indicates that it may be beneficial to use Bovine IgG to make the gut a safer place for my cells in the presence of microbe imbalance.
I switched to an 80% nose-to-tail carnivore diet and I used IgG to help make digestion easier. I took 1 IgG with each meal. I still had occasional trapped gas issues, but it made my symptoms much more manageable.
